Akriti Mehta

Akriti Mehta is a survivor researcher who has experienced mental health services in India and the UK. Her experiences of mental distress and mental health services as well as the work of other users, survivors, and persons with psychosocial disabilities led her to critically re-examine what ‘madness’ means. Akriti worked as a researcher on a survivor-led project examining knowledge production by persons with psychosocial disabilities, mental health service users, and survivors of psychiatry. She is interested in movements led by users/survivors/people with psychosocial disability in the ‘global South’ and how they influence and are influenced by local and global shifts. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the London School of Economics and Political Science examining psychosocial disability activism and advocacy in India
